When we do not feel like smiling

Sometimes we do not feel like smiling.
Have you ever been too anxious or too depressed to be able to smile.
Forcing ourselves to smile several times a day reduces anxiety and depression.
Leaving a pen between your teeth is said to be more effective than antidepressants. It is a lot cheaper and no horrible side-effects!

I remember well being told to do this as I looked particularly depressed that day. It did’nt work at the time;maybe I should have persevered!
Yes, It is worth persevering with this. I use this technique occasionally for anxiety – e.g. if travelling somewhere new to meet people I have never met before. I find it works in less than 5 minutes, although I have met people who say they have to leave the pen in the mouth for a long time, which causes them to drool. They say it works though, although drooling in company never seems quite right
so maybe that is best done at home. Give the pen thing another try.
